Plenty of families give up halfway through and pay for everything themselves.
You do not have to. Everything on GrantHub is free: the grant finder, the eligibility check, the calculator, the guides, and asking us questions by email. Most people do the application themselves with those and get on fine.

What we never ask you for
You do not send us a single document, and there is nothing to upload.
- Your PPS number
- Your exact income. We only ask which band you are in
- Bank details
- Payslips, medical letters or anything from your doctor
Those few boxes come to you blank, clearly marked, with a page showing exactly what to write in each one. Your occupational therapist report goes from them straight to you, and from you straight to the council. We never see it.
What we do not do
We do not contact builders or installers on your behalf, and we never recommend a particular company. You get the emails ready to send, written so contractors actually reply, and you choose who does the work. Keeping us out of that is what keeps our guidance independent.
Which grants this covers
The three council home grants. Stairlifts, accessible bathrooms, ramps and platform lifts are funded through these.
- Housing Adaptation Grant, up to €40,000 for bigger adaptations
- Mobility Aids Grant, up to €8,000 for simpler works like a stairlift or grab rails
- Housing Aid for Older People, up to €10,700 for essential repairs for people 66 and over
How it works

- You answer a few questions about the situation. It takes about ten minutes and we never ask for a PPS number, an income figure or a document.
- Your nine documents are checked by a person and emailed to you within one working day. You add the few boxes we leave blank, get the occupational therapist report and the quotes, sign it and send it to the council. The decision letter comes to you.
Common questions
Is the rest of the site still free?
Yes, completely. The finder, the checker, the calculator, the guides and asking us questions all cost nothing, and that does not change. The kit exists only for people who want the work taken off their hands.
Do I pay before I see anything?
No. We take your details, tell you exactly what we will do, and you pay when you are happy to go ahead.
Can you guarantee the grant is approved?
No, and nobody can. The council makes the decision. What we promise is an application done properly, completely, and on time, which is where most applications fall down.
Do you cover Northern Ireland?
No. We cover the Republic of Ireland only, all 26 counties. In Northern Ireland the equivalent is the Disabled Facilities Grant through the NI Housing Executive.
Do you sell stairlifts or bathrooms?
No. We are not an installer and we take nothing from installers. We help you get the grant, that is the whole job.
