Get the Housing Adaptation Grant — without doing the paperwork.

Most Irish families never claim the up-to-€40,000 grant they're entitled to. The forms are brutal, the OT waits are long, and the three-quote rule is a nightmare. We do it all for you — from eligibility check to a completed application pack ready to submit. You spend an hour uploading documents. We do the rest.

Why we built GrantHub

Across more than a decade in the Irish stairlift and home-adaptation trade, our team kept seeing the same pattern. Families who genuinely qualified for thousands of euro from the State just… didn't apply. The paperwork beat them. That's why GrantHub exists.

A short overview of why so many families miss out on the grant — and how we fix it.

How it works

Three steps. We do the heavy lifting.

1

Free eligibility check

Answer six questions about your situation. We tell you exactly what you might qualify for under the Housing Adaptation Grant or Mobility Aids Grant scheme. €169 flat fee only if you decide to proceed.

2

Welcome pack, then upload your documents

If you want to proceed, we email you a welcome pack within 3 hours (Mon–Fri, 9–6) with everything you need and a payment link for the €169 flat fee. Once paid, you upload your documents (P60, proof of ownership, LPT receipt, ID) — twenty minutes of your time. We then arrange the OT assessment and the three required installer quotes for you.

3

Receive your complete pack

We email you a complete application pack — council form filled in, OT report attached, three written quotes, all supporting documents indexed in the right order. You sign, post or upload to your council. That's it.

The grants we cover

Up to €40,000. Real money the State will pay if you ask the right way.

Housing Adaptation Grant for People with a Disability

  • Up to €40,000 for major home adaptations.
  • Covers: stairlifts, platform lifts, through-floor home lifts, level-access showers, ramps, ground-floor extensions, structural changes.
  • Income cap: €75,000 gross household income. Households under €37,500 get 100% of approved costs covered, tapering to 30% at €62,501–€75,000 (post-December 2024 scheme).
  • Our service fee: €169 flat — full done-for-you application pack.

Mobility Aids Grant Scheme

  • Up to €6,000–€8,000 for simpler mobility adaptations.
  • Covers: stairlifts, grab rails, ramps, level-access showers (when no major works needed).
  • Income cap: €30,000 gross household income.
  • Our service fee: €169 flat — same price, same done-for-you service.

The two schemes are different and you can't claim both for the same works. Part of our free eligibility check is figuring out which one fits your situation — sometimes the answer is "neither yet, but here's what to do first" and that advice is also free.

Why families don't apply

The pain that GrantHub fixes

Across more than a decade working with Irish families on stairlifts and platform lifts, our team has watched the same thing happen at hundreds of kitchen tables. An adult son or daughter, working out how to keep an elderly parent safely at home. The Housing Adaptation Grant comes up — their face lights up — and then they hear what's involved and the look changes.

It was always the same five things:

  • "I need an OT report? But the HSE waiting list is six months."
  • "Three written quotes from approved installers? I don't even know who's approved."
  • "What if I fill the form in wrong and they reject it?"
  • "My income is just over the threshold — am I wasting my time?"
  • "My mam's not great with paperwork. I'm trying to do this from another county."

Most of those families either gave up, paid full price out of pocket, or muddled through and waited 9 months. Many of them were entitled to most of the cost back. They just couldn't get past the paperwork.

That's the problem GrantHub fixes. We're not a charity, we're a service — but we built it because the gap between "what families are entitled to" and "what families actually claim" is huge, and the only thing in the way is paperwork. We're really good at paperwork.

Important note on what we do and don't promise: We prepare a complete, accurate application pack to maximise your chance of approval. Final approval is at the discretion of your local council and the OT's clinical judgement. We can't guarantee approval — but we can guarantee your application won't fail because of missing or incorrect paperwork.

Common questions

Frequently asked questions

What is the Housing Adaptation Grant?

A means-tested grant of up to €40,000 administered by Irish local authorities. It funds adaptations like stairlifts, platform lifts, level-access showers, ramps and ground-floor extensions. Gross household income must not exceed €75,000. Under the December 2024 revised scheme, households under €37,500 get 100% of approved costs covered, tapering down to 30% at €62,501–€75,000.

Why do I need help to apply?

The application is genuinely difficult. It requires an Occupational Therapist report (HSE waiting lists are long), three written quotes from approved installers, proof of income, proof of ownership, LPT and tax clearance, plus a council application form. Mistakes get applications rejected. Most families either give up or get stuck for months. We handle the entire process for you.

How does the GrantHub service work?

Three steps. First, a free eligibility check. Second, you upload your supporting documents to a secure cloud folder. Third, we prepare a complete application pack — eligibility verified, three installer quotes sourced, OT report coordinated, council form completed — and email it back to you ready to submit.

How much does it cost?

€169 flat fee per application. One price for any grant we handle — Housing Adaptation Grant or Mobility Aids Grant. The €169 covers eligibility verification, document review, OT report coordination, sourcing the three required installer quotes, completion of the council application form, and a finished pack ready to submit. The eligibility check is free; the €169 is only payable once you decide to proceed. You can email us at hello@thegranthub.ie with any questions before you commit.

What if I don't qualify?

The eligibility check is free. If we determine you don't qualify or that you'd benefit from waiting (e.g., income just above threshold and likely to drop), we tell you and there's no fee. Honest is faster than chasing a hopeless application.

How long does the whole process take?

Realistically 8–14 weeks from start to grant approval — most of that is council processing time, which is the same whether you apply yourself or use us. Our part (preparing the pack) typically takes 2–3 weeks once your documents are uploaded. We also handle the OT booking, which is often the slowest single step.

Is my data safe?

Yes. All documents are stored in encrypted cloud storage. We share data only with your explicit consent and only with the installers you approve to provide quotes. We're GDPR-compliant and have a written Privacy Policy and Data Processing Agreements with all installer partners. You can withdraw consent at any time.
