The rates come from PTSB's Business Banking Rates sheet, which says its information was correct on 30 June 2026. PTSB calls them a guide for new facilities. Your own rate is set out in your credit agreement. PTSB does not publish a maximum for its term loan.
PTSB also has a €250 million Impact Lending Fund, from €5,000, for projects with an environmental or social benefit. Invoice finance is offered through a partner company, Bibby Financial Services Ireland, and not by the bank itself.
You can see the monthly cost of a loan at PTSB's published 7.5% before you ring. Check PTSB's business term loan page for the current terms.

Fees
- Term loans and business mortgages: an upfront facility fee of up to 1% of the loan, with a minimum of €100, may be charged. PTSB says this is at the bank's discretion, so ask what it will be before you accept.
- Overdrafts: a €25 facility fee when the overdraft is first used, and every year after.
- Security: where PTSB takes security, the legal costs fall on the borrower.
- Hire purchase: a €120 documentation fee with the first repayment and a €63.33 purchase fee with the last.
- Fixed rate mortgages: breakage fees can apply if you repay early or switch.
Who can apply, and what PTSB says about refusals
Sole traders, partnerships and limited companies can apply. Borrowers must be over 18 and resident in the Republic of Ireland.
PTSB does not publish separate criteria for start-ups. Its document list asks for three years of accounts and for trading performance over the last 12 months. A business with no history should ask the bank what it will accept before applying.
Approval depends on what PTSB calls a repayment capacity assessment, plus its other lending criteria. It does not publish a list of sectors it refuses.
PTSB does state one thing plainly. If it has refused you credit before, that may affect your credit rating with PTSB when you apply again.
What you have to send
PTSB lists these for a lending application:
PTSB says a business plan should normally cover the business and its products, who owns it, the management team, its track record, competitors, financial projections, future strategy and the funding it needs.
Those two documents, the business plan and 12 months of projections that PTSB lists, are what our pack produces.
We can prepare the business plan and cashflow a lender asks for
Our plan pack writes the two documents PTSB lists for a loan application: an up-to-date business plan and cashflow projections for the next 12 months.
- Your business plan in the layout banks and credit unions expect
- Your 12-month cashflow, with the loan repayments built in
- A one-page loan request and a checklist of what the lender will ask for
€99 one-off, VAT included. You put in your figures and check your cashflow, then pay and answer the questions. A person prepares your pack within two working days. 14-day money-back promise. We cannot promise any funder will approve you.
How to apply, and how long it takes
PTSB's term loan page gives two ways to apply: by phone or in a branch.
- Ring the Business Banking Team on 0818 200 100, or call into a branch, and set up an appointment. You can talk the application through before you submit it.
- Fill in the lending application form for your type of business.
- Hand in the form with the supporting documents.
- PTSB writes to acknowledge the application within 5 working days.
- A credit decision follows within 15 business days of the application. If PTSB needs more time or more information, it still writes to you within those 15 days and says when to expect an answer.
If PTSB says no
You can appeal in writing within 20 business days of the decision letter. Send it to the SME Appeals Board, c/o Customer Relations Department, PTSB, PO Box 13769, South City Delivery Office, Togher, Cork. PTSB says it responds within 15 business days.
If the appeal fails, you can bring a PTSB refusal to Credit Review, which is independent of the banks.
A business with fewer than 10 staff that cannot borrow from a bank can look at loans of €2,000 to €50,000 from Microfinance Ireland.

It can. PTSB says an upfront facility fee of up to 1% of the loan, with a minimum of €100, may be charged at the bank's discretion on term loans and business mortgages.
Can a start-up get a PTSB business loan?
