Can my business get a Local Enterprise Office grant?

Most shops, cafes, trades and local services cannot get the cash grants. This checker tells you where you stand and what you can use instead.

How this is worked out

The Local Enterprise Offices give three cash grants: the Feasibility Study Grant, the Priming Grant and the Business Expansion Grant. They are for businesses in manufacturing or internationally traded services with up to 10 employees.

A business that only sells to local customers is normally outside that. The reason given is displacement: a grant to one local cafe or shop takes trade from the one down the road.

Being outside the cash grants does not mean the office has nothing for you. Training, mentoring, the Grow Digital Voucher and the Energy Efficiency Grant are open to a much wider group, and a referral from the office takes 1% off a Microfinance Ireland loan.

The checker uses the published rules. Your own Local Enterprise Office makes the decision, and some offices read the rules more widely than others. If you are close to the line, ring them.

This tool gives an estimate from published rules. It is not a decision, and it is not financial advice. The body that runs the scheme always decides.
