What it is

The scheme is built around the Primary Medical Certificate. With it, you can reclaim VRT and VAT on a vehicle, get a fuel grant, and be exempt from motor tax.

Who can get it

You must hold a Primary Medical Certificate confirming you are severely and permanently disabled under one of six specific medical criteria.

How to apply

  1. Apply for a Primary Medical Certificate at your local HSE health office
  2. Apply to Revenue for the relief and registration
  3. Claim the fuel grant through Revenue's online service
