SEAI Home Energy Grants

Grants to upgrade your home one measure at a time — insulation, heat pump or solar — using an SEAI-registered contractor.

What it is

You apply before the work starts, use a registered contractor, and the grant is paid after completion. You can do measures individually or bundle them.

How much you can get

Up to €12,500 insulation, heat pump, solar.

Who can get it

Owner-occupiers, landlords and companies. The home needs an electricity meter (MPRN) and must have been built or occupied before 2011 for insulation, or before 2021 for a heat pump or solar.

• An SEAI-registered contractor
• Your home's MPRN number
• Approval before any work begins

How to apply

1. Apply on the SEAI website before any work starts
2. Pick a contractor from the SEAI registered list
3. Submit your documents — the grant is paid after completion

Worth knowing

A worked example: bundling external wall insulation (€8,000) with a heat pump (€12,500) can return over €20,000 on the right home, though the renewable-heat bonus and individual caps mean you rarely hit every maximum at once. If you are doing several measures, a One Stop Shop can be better value than claiming each grant yourself, because the provider deducts the grants upfront and you only pay the balance. Always get your BER assessed first so you know your starting point.
